2007 Grizzly 700 (900 miles) has lost top speed, from 60 mph down to 48 mph. It runs fine and accelerates fine, just tops out sooner than before. The bike sat all summer but had good top speed last time I maxed out back in the Spring. Would belt wear cause this? An issue with the roller weights? None of this has ever been apart or serviced. Other suggestions?

Pull your clutches and clean them. Likely some dirt in there that is stopping your clutches from opening all the way.

Agree take apart and give good cleaning. They usually put lots in and it gets hard and dirty which keeps the rollers from going all the way out.

I agree with what the two said, can also be belt wear also. So after cleaning the grease and dirt out of the clutch and getting it back together if the top speed is still down some, replace the belt.
We have greaseless weights to stop the grease problem totally

What benefit is there to running grease less weights?

You never have to worry about the grease getting built up with dirt and causing a problem in the clutch.

Two benefits for sure, maybe 3
1) no more messy grease
2) you can leave off the primary cover and screws which stop the grease from flying out, which decreases weight.
#3 is what I don't know about yet but am hoping for- no more flat spots on the weight covers from them sticking and sliding. I had flatspots at 800 miles with grease so I'll post up if this greaseless setup stops this.

Keep in mind no other manufacturer besides Yamaha uses grease. The Suzuki King Quad and Artic Cat 650 and 700's both have roller weight style clutches and neither have grease.
We have been selling these for almost a year and a half and I know one guy with over 2000 miles on his with no wear.
Since it is a dry set up and you need to clean all the grease out like bone dry you will have less dirt sticking to anything

could also be some critter crawled in your belt intake/exhaust and built him a new home. there's a pic of a guys clutch with a few squished mice in his primary sheave. they were centrifuged and spun the guts right out of the little guys.
