I am the original owner of an '07 Escalade. I have followed all maintenance procedures and taken great care of my vehicle.

I am at 90,000 miles...mostly highway.(I know...a lot of miles for the year)

So I am wondering how many miles can I realistically expect to put on the engine before I start having issues.

What do you mean by issues?

Our 07 has 80K+ and we got it just two months ago and the longevity of the engine wasn't a concern for me. I'm pretty sure there are many other things that will fail on the truck before the engine.

Sure, there are people who have had issues with their engines, and even had them replaced at some point, but I'm sure those are still just a tiny minority out of all the L92-powered GM trucks out there. Not just Escalades.

If you use synthetic oil, expect 250k minimum before any issues arise. Then, most likely gasket deterioration (head gaskets weeping coolant externally) and increasing oil consumption due to piston/ring wear will be the things to look out for. At 250k it will still be rebuildable to go another 250k. Even if not, by that time the cost of a replacement engine will probably be less than $4000. That's the advantage of a small-block!

Glad to hear I can expect high mileage out of this vehicle. I have treated her well...expect the same in return.

I have a customer with an 07' that just broke 200k yesterday, and a friend with 215k on his 07', the one with 215k on it has it's third trans in it.

IMHO your engine can go to 300,000 miles if you:

1. Change the oil every 6,000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first.
2. Make sure that the oil temperature goes over 212 the first time you start it up each day, even if it means driving as few minutes extra just to warm up the oil.

When I bought my Mercedes S class, I was expecting 200K mile out of the engine. I'm now at 225K mile (I avg 40K/year, so not that hard), and the engine is still powerful, smooth, and quiet, so I'm expecting another 200K mile out of it.

All I ever done was Synthetic oil change every 10K mile (at home), filter every 50K mile, and spark-plug/belt replaced at 150K mile.

The Escalade uses the GM truck engine, known for being workhorse, so it should do well in long run.

With my wife putting 4-5K mile /year on the truck, I don't know when it'll reach 200K mile :)

As mentioned above, the motor is likely the least of your worries. Expect problems with the transmissions long before the engine.

Run AMSOIL in it and change every 10k.

I've owned an 86' Camaro, 89' Silverado, 93' Fullsize Blazer that all had more than 250k on them. The new engines should survive 200k + I would think. If not, I would be shocked.

I am looking to buy a 2013 Escalade with 150,000 miles on it - Anything I can do to check to see how well it was maintained and what work has been done on it be fore I buy it?

My 2k Silverado is at 206k, My SS Camaro is at 201k. It's the bell's & whistles and other upgraded components of the Esky that will start beating you up before the engine IMO.

To echo other posters, I agree the engine is probably the least of your worries. GM knows how to build their V8's. I have an '07, as well, second owner and pushing close to 150k without any major issues (knock on wood).

My '07 has 110k and does not burn a drop of oil. You can expect 200k+ out of a properly maintained LS.
